The São Bento Veterinary Hospital, founded in 1996, was the first veterinary hospital to be established in Lisbon.
Located in the heart of the city, HVSB offers a complete range of clinical, surgical and diagnostic services, with state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated team passionate about animal welfare.

The São Bento Veterinary Hospital was the first veterinary hospital to be established in Lisbon, and to this day it maintains its commitment to combining clinical excellence with a welcoming and functional environment.
Housed in a renovated 17th-century historic building with four separate floors, the hospital features specific areas for dogs and cats, waiting areas adapted to each species, a triage room, an inpatient unit, diagnostic spaces, grooming, feeding, and a pleasant courtyard with background music.
Here, every detail has been thought out so that you feel at home — and so that your pet is comfortable, safe, and well cared for.

Clinical Management
Henrique Armés is a veterinarian with a doctorate in orthopedics and an MBA in management. Since 1997, he has led the São Bento Veterinary Hospital, where he has become a central figure in the advancement of veterinary orthopedic surgery in Portugal. A pioneer in the application of bionic prostheses in companion animals, he combines clinical practice with research and teaching, contributing significantly to the evolution of veterinary medicine in the country.
Innovation
HVSB is proud to have been a pioneer in Portugal in the application of bionic prostheses in companion animals. Since 2011, the team led by Dr. Henrique Armés has been developing innovative techniques that restore mobility and quality of life to amputee dogs and cats through the implantation of personalized artificial limbs. This advancement places HVSB at the forefront of veterinary medicine, reinforcing its commitment to science, innovation, and animal welfare.
